Job Description
We are seeking a skilled SMART400/Life Asia COBOL Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing and maintaining systems built on SMART400, LIFE Asia, SMART COBOL, LIFE400, and COBOL400 technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using SMART400, LIFE Asia, and COBOL400 platforms.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, analyze, and implement solutions in the LIFE400 environment.
Debug and resolve application issues in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Optimize application performance and ensure alignment with best practices in SMART COBOL development.
Participate in code reviews, system testing, and user acceptance testing to maintain quality standards.
Provide technical support and mentorship to junior developers working on COBOL-based applications.
Document technical specifications, design solutions, and ensure proper knowledge transfer
Must have Skills:
SMART 400- Proficiency in the SMART400 framework for insurance and financial applications.
LIFE Asia- In-depth understanding of the LIFE Asia platform and its functionalities.
SMART COBAL & COBAL 400- Strong skills in COBOL development, including batch and
online programming.
LIFE 400- Experience in working with LIFE400 systems, including maintenance and
enhancements.
Mainframe Systems- Hands-on experience with mainframe environments, including JCL,
VSAM, and CICS.
Database Management- Proficiency in working with relational databases (e.g., DB2) and SQL
for data processing and reporting.
Good-to-have skills: Technical Skills:
Experience with legacy modernization and DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
Knowledge of API development, cloud integration, and programming languages beyond
COBOL (e.g., Java, Python).
Familiarity with middleware integration (e.g., MQ Series, Kafka) and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Business Knowledge:
Understanding of insurance workflows, including underwriting, claims, and reinsurance processes.
Exposure to data analytics for decision-making and reporting. Qualifications
No formal education criteria; we value skills and experience.
Proven experience in a similar role or relevant projects.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
