Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Software Developer specializing in GIS-based applications to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining geospatial software solutions, integrating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with cutting-edge technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative GIS applications that solve real-world problems in industries like utilities, urban planning, infrastructure, and more.


Job Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Design, develop, and maintain GIS-based software applications using various GIS platforms (e.g., Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo).
  • Integrate geospatial data and maps into web-based and desktop applications to deliver powerful, user-friendly GIS solutions.
  • Work with open-source and proprietary GIS tools such as ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, Leaflet, OpenLayers, etc.
  • Develop custom tools and scripts to enhance the functionality of existing GIS platforms or applications.
  • Build web-based GIS solutions using technologies such as JavaScript (Leaflet, OpenLayers, or ArcGIS API for JavaScript), Python, and web mapping libraries.
  • Handle spatial data processing, analysis, and visualization, ensuring the seamless integration of geospatial data into applications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, and other developers to ensure the successful delivery of GIS applications.
  • Write unit tests, integration tests, and documentation to ensure the quality, reliability, and maintainability of code.
  • Integrate GIS platforms with enterprise applications, external APIs, databases, and other business systems to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Work on cloud-based GIS platforms and contribute to the development of cloud-native geospatial applications.

Desired Candidate Profile:


  • 3-8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years working on GIS-based applications.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Geospatial Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of GIS concepts such as spatial data structures, coordinate systems, map projections, and geospatial analytics.
  • Proficiency in working with GIS platforms such as Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo,or similar.
  • Strong experience with geospatial data processing and using technologies such as Leaflet, OpenLayers, or the ArcGIS API for JavaScript.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, C#, or .NET.
  • Experience with web development frameworks and libraries (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue.js) is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with spatial databases like PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial, or Oracle Spatial.
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats (Shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML, etc.) and geoprocessing tools (GDAL/OGR).
  • Strong understanding of coordinate systems, projections, spatial data structures, and geospatial analysis techniques.
  • Experience in developing spatial data visualizations, interactive maps, and mapping services.
  • Familiarity with GIS Web Services (e.g., WMS, WFS, WCS, REST) and integration of geospatial APIs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for developing innovative GIS solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
