Position Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Oracle Database Administrator to join our growing team.
The individual in this role would be responsible for supporting our software development teams under DBA capacity and working under the agile methodology.
The role can be performed in Raleigh, NC, Hartford, CT, Chattanooga, TN, or Lafayette, LA.
Your future duties and responsibilities
• Single point of contact to provide day-to-day support for Oracle databases aligned to applications
• Provide database administration for a variety of mission-critical custom and packaged software applications
• Design storage strategies around backup and recovery for complex database environments, physical structures, and specialized database applications
• Partner with agile project teams and interact with enterprise DBAs to find solutions for projects and operational issues in existing and proposed databases
• Act as a liaison serving as primary point of contact between application development segments and database administrators
• Administration of Oracle distributed implementations, including database definition, structure, documentation and long-range requirements
• Analyze stored procedures, SQL, SQL queries and performance optimization following industry best practices and standards
• Provide standardization and consistency across environments
• Ensure a stable and secure database environment
• Implement and monitor database functionality to ensure stable environments Champion and practice Agile Principles
• Work closely with Dev Team, Test team, Product Manager and Business Analyst to collaborate, review and deliver high quality software applications.
• Be able to evaluate performance of applications and deliver solutions which are efficient and performant.
• Support and enhance existing applications used by consumers as well as operations staff.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Bachelors Degree or Associate Degree with equivalent years of experience
• 8+ Years of overall open stack experience including below
o 6+ years of Oracle (Linux, Unix, Windows)
o 3+ years of strong Linux background
o 3+ years of scripting experience
• Experience with both relational and non-relational DB's like DB2, Mongo, SQL
• Expert level knowledge of stored procedures, SQL, SQL queries and performance optimization
• Golden Gate Experience
• Experience with Materialized Views
• Hands on experience with Query tuning and optimization, Capacity, storage and performance assessment and recommendation
• Should be able to demonstrate familiarity with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA, Web Services, REST API, Microservices)
• Application Performance (threading, indexing, clustering, caching)
• Analytical Skills: Candidate must be able to recognize the needs of customers and create simple solutions that answer those needs.
• Communication: Candidate must be able to clearly communicate their ideas to peers, stakeholders, and management.
• Creativity: Creativity is needed to help invent new ways of approaching problems and developing innovative applications as well as bringing experience from other industries.
• Customer-Service: If dealing directly with clients and customers, candidate would need good customer service skills and consultant mentality to answer questions and fix issues.
• Attention to Detail: Applications have many parts, and all must work together for the application to function.
• Problem-Solving: As issues come up, candidate must be able to make decisions that move the project forward.
• Teamwork: Candidate must work well with others as part of a distributed agile (SAFe) team of developers, analysts, QA, and more.
• Technical Skills: Candidate must be adept in computer languages and have strong technical aptitude. Must have a solid knowledge with common design patterns should seek out opportunities to implement design patterns.
